T20 U.S.

CORE OBJECTIVES

The T20 U.S. in 2026, is co-chaired by Stimson Center, Quincy Institute, and Brooking Institute, taking forward the Think Tank 20 (T20) policy research network is an informal network of policy researchers, thinktanks, academics, policymakers, and practitioners producing and sharing practical and timely knowledge products for all G20 policymakers.

This T20 U.S. is committed to continue the work on, major legacy issues, sustainability, inequality, international financial architecture and collective security reform, human rights, pandemic prevention and public health, migration and refugees, gender and youth empowerment, disabilities, humanitarian action, food insecurity, and peace.

This work is being carried out by five Work Streams, with the aim of having each workstream produce five policy briefs for the G20 Members.

The culmination of this work will be discussed at the T20 Summit in New York on November 18-19 convene, in hybrid format hosted by the Ford Foundation Center for Social Justice with anticipated sessions held across the street at United Nations Headquarters. As per custom, the gathering aspires to produce a final T20 U.S. communiqué for wide public promotion in the run-up to the G20 Summit from 14-15 December 2026.

The T20 Summit will highlight the implications of this work for the U.K.’s 2027 G20 Presidency, and it will support continuity into the next G20/T20 cycle.

G20 is focused on driving economic growth and prosperity to produce results.

This policy research network is once again poised to build and share practical and timely knowledge products for all G20 policymakers, ensuring continued engagement on key themes of relevance to all Member States and regional groupings, including on, but not limited to, the G20 U.S. working group themes of:

1. Removing regulatory burdens

2. Unlocking affordable and secure energy supply chains

3. Pioneering new technologies and innovation

4. Identifying areas of consensus on trade issues

G20 and Global Governance Innovation E-Consultation

Kicking-off the T20 U.S. in 2026, the recently convened six-week G20 and Global Governance Innovation E-Consultation (24 February – 8 April 2026) provided key insights for the year ahead.

This NEW Synthesis Report details the analytical insights and creative policy and institutional reform proposals of this online forum’s 450+ scholars, policy researchers, advocates, and practitioners from around the world.

The report highlights initial analytical findings and policy recommendations for G20 policy-makers from six consecutive, one-week online dialogues that cover many of the thematic priority areas of the T20 U.S. Workstreams and Advisory Council launched this past April.
