The SOTF Modalities:
- Latest Letter from Co-Facilitators on 13 May 2023 | website.
- The Summit of the Future Modalities Resolution has been adopted after a silence procedure went unbroken, on Thursday 8 September. Here's the latest from the Co-Facilitators, Oman and New Zealand.
- 18 Oct 2022: Amb. Antje Leenderste, UN Permanent Representative of Germany, and Amb. Neville Melvin Gertze, UN Permanent Representative of Namibia, appointed by President of the General Assembly Amb. Korosi, as the new Co-Facilitators to lead consultations on the Summit of the Future for the 77th session of the General Assembly. Fiji and Netherlands will continue to serve as co-facilitators for the process on the Declaration on Future Generations.
- 31 October 2022 saw the first in a series of informal consultations on the Summit of the Future lead by several Permanent Missions and in collaboration with the Present Future Institute.
- The Ministerial Forum in September 2023 will likely take place at the Minister of Foreign Affairs level.
- Civil Society Townhall by the President of the General Assembly will be 3-5pm EDT on 27 June, UN New York HQ.
- June 13: Informal Consultations on the Summit of the Future.
Declaration on Future Generations:
- Latest Letter from Co-Facilitators includes a summary of the expert dialogues, 15 May | roadmap.
- Dialogue I: Expert Level Informal Exchange with Panelists on National, Regional and Multilateral Examples of Implementing the Commitment to Future Generations.
- Dialogue II: To Think and Act for Future Generations.
- Dialogue III: Youth Expert Panel on Safeguarding the Interests of Future Generations.
- High-level Committee on Programs' UN Common Principles on Future Generations
- 7 September 2022 saw an intergovernmental discussion on the elements paper for a Declaration on Future Generations. This paper was presented on September 9, 2022.
Global Digital Compact:
- GDC Deep Dive hosted by Rwanda and Sweden.
- Submit written inputs on the Global Digital Compact to the UN Tech Envoy's Office by 31 March 2023.
- 27 Oct: Amb. Claver Gatete, UN Permanent Representative of Rwanda, and Amb. Anna Karin EnestrΓΆm, UN Permanent Representative of Sweden, appointed by the President of the General Assembly Amb. Korosi, as the new Co-Facilitators to lead consultation on the Global Digital Compact for the 77th session of the General Assembly. Submit written inputs on the Global Digital Compact to the UN Tech Envoy's Office by 31 March 2023.
New Agenda for Peace:
- The UN Department for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs issues an open call for civil society and multistakeholder written inputs and ideas on a New Agenda for Peace before 15 January. Proposals should be shared here [email protected] in any of the six UN official languages.
- The Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs (DPPA) will be leading drafting of the New Agenda for Peace and have been encouraged to open up to stakeholder consultations.
- The New Agenda for Peace may not be an intergovernmentally-led process. The UN Chief Executive Board met on 27 October 2022 to discuss.
UN Youth Office:
- Read the terms of reference for the Assistant Secretary-General of Youth Affairs who will lead the UN Youth Office.
- Youth Briefing on Our Common Agenda on 17 Feb; outcomes here.
- The UN Youth Office Resolution was taken to the 5th Committee in early December 2022 for negotiation, read the G77 and China statement here, and speaker summary here.
- A consultation was held on 6 October 2022 with stakeholders and youth representatives on steps forward.
- The adoption of a groundbreaking resolution for a United Nations Youth Office.

- 20 Oct 2022: Amb. Fergal Mythen, UN Permanent Representative of Ireland, and Amb. Alya Ahmed Saif Al-Thani, UN Permanent Representative of Qatar, appointed by President of the General Assembly Amb. Korosi, as the new Co-Facilitators to lead consultations on the SDG Summit for the 77th session of the General Assembly.
- 18 Oct 2022: Amb. Michal Mlynar, UN Permanent Representative of Slovakia, and Amb. Tareq M.A.M Albanai, UN Permanent Representative of Kuwait, appointed by President of the General Assembly Amb. Korosi, as the new Co-Facilitators to lead intergovernmental negotiations on UN Security Council Reform for the 77th Session of the General Assembly.
- 16-19 September saw the Transforming Education Summit unfold, kicked off by a Youth Mobilization Day, followed by Solutions Day, and culminating with Leadership Day, which welcomed Heads of State to the table.
