We are pleased to share that the theme for the T20 U.S. in 2026 is “Harnessing Knowledge and Ensuring Continuity for Better Policymaking in Uncertain Times.” This policy research network is once again poised to build and share practical and timely knowledge products for all G20 policymakers, ensuring continued engagement on key themes of relevance to all Member States and regional groupings (including on, but not limited to, the G20 U.S. working group themes of 1. removing regulatory burdens, 2. unlocking affordable and secure energy supply chains, 3. pioneering new technologies and innovation, and 4. identifying areas of consensus on trade issues). Additionally, the T20 is committed to continued work on, among other major legacy issues, sustainability, inequality, international financial architecture and collective security reform, human rights, pandemic prevention and public health, migration and refugees, gender and youth empowerment, disabilities, humanitarian action, food insecurity, and peace.
Kicking-off the T20 U.S. in 2026, the recently convened six-week G20 and Global Governance Innovation E-Consultation (24 February - 8 April 2026) provided key insights for the year ahead. This NEW Synthesis Report details the analytical insights and creative policy and institutional reform proposals of this online forum’s 450+ scholars, policy researchers, advocates, and practitioners from around the world. The report highlights initial analytical findings and policy recommendations for G20 policy-makers from six consecutive, one-week online dialogues that cover many of the thematic priority areas of the T20 U.S. Workstreams and Advisory Council launched this past April. Stay tuned for future policy notes, policy solutions, and commentaries building on several of the ideas flowing from the e-consultation, which built-upon the momentum and creative thinking generated during recent (2022-2025) T20’s hosted by leading think tanks in Indonesia, India, Brazil, and South Africa.
Stay tuned for further ways to further contribute this year to the activities of the T20 U.S., including through the preparation of policy notes commissioned by five distinct Workstreams(formerly taskforces) and succinct policy solutions undertaken by a revamped Advisory Council. Participating think tanks will contribute in the following five thematic areas:
Fostering Trade and People-Centered Economic Growth.
Safeguarding Energy Security and Resilience.
Boosting Innovative Technologies, including Artificial Intelligence.
Mobilizing Finance and Tackling Debt Constraints, including through International Financial Architecture Reform.
Sustaining and Strengthening Global Coordination on Socioeconomic Development and Peacebuilding
