The Global Town Hall further considered reform ideas arising from the “We the People’s” digital consultation (April 23rd – May 21st), which is part of the Secretary-General’s “Our Common Agenda” outreach program, as well as consideration of a possible follow-on intergovernmental process as recommended in the Eminent Persons Open Letter signed by 50 former world leaders and UN officials.
In advance of the 22 June Global Town Hall, the Coalition for the UN We Need is coordinating a series of Regional Consultations, organized in collaboration with several regional partners. The five meetings will take place throughout the week of 14-18 June 2021 and report back to the wider C4UN network at the Global Town Hall. The five regions represented in these Consultations are Africa, Asia-Pacific, Europe & North America, Latin America & the Caribbean, and the Middle East & North Africa. The Consultations seek to bring to the forefront regional perspectives on the UN75 follow-through process, identifying key challenges for the multilateral system and concrete recommendations for a rejuvenated and inclusive United Nations system.
