A High-Level UNGA 2023 Side Event

featuring H.E Mary Robinson, former President of Ireland and Chair of the Elders and lead Chair of Climate Governance Commission.

The Climate Governance Commission, will be present and represented in New York City for UNGA/Climate Week sharing perspectives on urgent recommended governance transformations equal to the climate emergency. The Commission is an independent body established to propose, and build partnerships that promote feasible, high-impact global governance solutions for urgent and effective climate action to limit global temperature rise to 1.5°C or less. The diplomatic and civil society roundtable at the offices of the Baha’i International Community, “Governing the Planetary Emergency,” will feature Commission Chair Mary Robinson, and Co-Chair Maria Fernanda Espinosa, President of the 73rd General Assembly, also with H.E Danilo Türk, President of Club de Madrid on the importance of climate leadership, along with other Commissioners.

Venue: The offices of the Baha’i International Community and online.

Format: A sixty-minute program with an opening segment, followed by a roundtable discussion where the Co-Chairs of the Commission and other Commissioners, in conversation with participants, will share perspectives on the current cross-roads in planetary and climate governance that the international community faces, sharing priority proposals form the Commission’s 2023 UNGA Statement.
