ACUNS is Hiring an Executive Director: Apply today!

The Academic Council on the United Nations System (ACUNS) invites applications for the position of ACUNS Executive Director for three years, 2022-2025, as part of a new hosting agreement with Georgetown University. The Executive Director will provide strategic leadership in cooperation with the ACUNS Board of Directors, oversee day to day operations of the organization, and organize the ACUNS Annual Meeting. They will report to the ACUNS President. 

The Executive Director will also teach three courses per year at Georgetown University, including the 50-student lecture course “International Organization” (which can be repeated fall/spring if desired) and one or two 15-student seminars. They will also advise and mentor International Politics (IPOL) majors concentrating in International Institutions, Law, and Ethics. For teaching, advising, and administrative work at Georgetown, they will report to the School of Foreign Service (SFS) Vice-Dean for Undergraduate Affairs. The Executive Director will receive a non-tenure-line (NTL) faculty appointment and title of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor of the Practice. Salary and appointment title will be commensurate with experience.

Applicants are asked to provide the following:

  • A cover letter indicating reasons for interest in the position and relevant qualifications as well as any experience with website development, networks within the United Nations system or other multilateral institutions, and research on relevant topics.
  • A curriculum vitae.
  • The names and contact information of three people who can provide letters of reference upon request. Letters do not need to be submitted with the initial application.
  • Recent teaching evaluations (if any).

Applicants are required to have a Ph.D. degree or equivalent, and experience with program development or non-profit management.

The deadline to apply is 15 August 2022. Review of applications will begin immediately on a rolling basis and continue until the position is filled. All applications will be held in confidence.
