Through research and collaborative initiatives, the Think Tank 20 (T20) offers intellectual support and drives progress on critical issues like economic inequality, climate change, and sustainable development. Since its establishment in 2012 during Mexico’s G20 Presidency, the T20 has been widely regarded as the “ideas bank” of the G20. Members support the G20 by:

  • Driving idea generation and intellectual input into the G20 agenda under each presidency.
  • Providing evidence-based recommendations to the G20 in the form of policy briefings.
  • Facilitating interactions between the T20, the international think tank and research community, and broader public on global governance challenges.

T20's mandate, under the overarching South African G20 theme of “Solidarity, Equality and Sustainability,” is to strive for a more just and sustainable future by fostering collaboration and bridging geopolitical divides.
