With cameos during the Doha Forum, the Global Policy Dialogue series, and Stockholm +50, the Climate Governance Commission, featuring key GGIN partners, is now entering its High-Level Phase II with several exciting collaborations and research lined up, including a growing partnership with the Secretary-General’s High-level Advisory Board on Effective Multilateralism

The overarching goal of the next high-level phase is to continue the project’s policy and engagement momentum, to leverage the research and rich content presented in the Interim Report, and build to a flagship Final Report, intended to be released in September 2023, in time for the Summit of the Future during UNGA High-Level Week—six weeks out from COP-28 in the UAE. The Final Report will serve as a synthesis report on Global Climate Governance gaps and recommended high-impact near, medium- and longer-term global governance enhancement proposals. Additionally, the CGC will be engaging with civil society and smart coalitions, engaging in high-level roundtables and producing global communications and education outreach outputs.

The Global Challenges Foundation, Global Governance Forum, the Stimson Center, the Global Governance Innovation Network (GGIN), the Council on Energy, Environment & Water (CEEW), Plataforma CIPÓ, and the World Resources Institute (WRI) have agreed to serve on the International Steering Committee for Phase II of the Climate Governance Commission (with additional members to be added in the coming weeks). The CGC has also convened a “Networked Secretariat” to support the work of both the High-Level Commission and International Steering Committee, to leverage various institutional resources and perspectives in service of Commission operations and global outreach.
