On behalf of the Coalition for the UN We Need and the Baha’i International Community, we are writing to invite you to attend the next Road to the Summit discussion series, entitled “Pact for the Future Chapter 4: Youth and Future Generations.” The hybrid event will take place at the Bahá’í International Community offices, located at 866 UN Plaza Suite 120 from 8:30 to 10:00 am on Friday 2 February. (Concept note).

A year has transpired since the last time this Road to the Summit series has centered meaningful youth engagement. In that time, we saw not only the establishment of the UN Youth Office and the appointment of its first Assistant Secretary-General (ASG) for Youth Affairs, but we also learned that the fourth chapter of the Pact for the Future will focus on “Youth and Future Generations”. The coming eight months, leading up to the Summit of the Future, represent a vital opportunity for advancing the conversation around both meaningful youth engagement and preserving the ability of future generations to fulfill their potential. This session will serve as an opportunity to better understand, support, and shape the dialogue and consider priorities and next steps going forward.

The Road to the Summit series provides an opportunity for Member States, the United Nations, and Civil Society to consider the emerging discourse related to the future of the United Nations and to explore areas requiring further consultation, including implications at the local and national levels. At the end of each off-the-record discussion, a two-page unattributed summary is created as a substantive contribution to the process. We will create a final compilation report in advance of the Summit of the Future.

We are pleased to be joined by a host of co-sponsors who wish to advance this conversation with a particular focus on the aspirations and expectations for the United Nations and its development agenda at this moment in history. We look forward to your participation.
